WHAT IS GSA?

GSA, or the General Services Administration, plays a pivotal role in the federal government’s procurement process. When government agencies require goods and services, they don’t make direct purchases. Instead, they employ a specialized acquisition method known as the “Schedule” to source products and services from commercial suppliers. GSA administers the entire federal procurement process and exclusively grants Schedule contracts to certified vendors. This stringent certification process ensures not only the high quality of products and services (as the government demands excellence) but also the suitability of the chosen providers.

WHAT IS GSA SCHEDULE CONTRACT?

A GSA Schedule contract is a binding agreement between the U.S. government and a commercial company, typically spanning five years with the option for renewal up to three times. This contract empowers the company to offer its products and services falling under a specific Special Item Number (SIN) to various federal agencies and organizations throughout the contract’s duration.

The attainment of a Schedule award signifies that the awarded company has demonstrated adherence to GSA rules and regulations, successfully cleared rigorous scrutiny, and possesses a commendable track record of past performance. In essence, becoming a GSA Approved Vendor requires a company to establish itself as reputable, financially stable, and supported by positive testimonials from clients.
